______________________________ We're hiring ! Member Experience Specialist (part time) Please click here for more info ______________________________ What are we working on? New Nutrition "things" ! 1. New 6 week kick-start Our number one core value is ‘constantly grow and improve’. We passionately believe in always trying to improve. We’ve made a number of improvements to our 6 Week nutrition & accountability kickstart program, and will be rolling out towards the end of this month! We’ve added in a simple ‘curriculum’ (twice weekly “micro lessons”) as we want to increase what we do on the ‘education’ side of things …. knowledge is power after all! We’re also adding in weekend prompts to get organised and ready for the week ahead (we all need a nudge on that from time to time!) We’re making it quicker and easier for the Coaches to monitor and give feedback on food diaries - with the benefit being it will help anyone on the program to make adjustments to their diet quicker, and further improve results. And the other main improvement we’re making, is we’re looking to have more than one Nutrition Coach ……..with ‘cohorts’ split by Coach. This means every client will still have a 1-1 Coach, but the coach will have fewer clients to look after, which means even more personalised attention, support and accountability :-) ________________________________ 2. Continuity Accountability Coaching We keep getting asked about this - and we’re aware that 6 weeks isn’t long enough for many people to firmly embed habits. And after all, anyone can do anything for a week or two when ‘novelty’ and motivation is high - but it’s the ‘sticking at it’ for months on end that becomes the more challenging aspect. So end of June is the ‘launch date’ for our new ‘continuity coaching’ program. And it’ll be there as an option for anyone who wants ongoing accountability after their first 6 weeks - or if someone has done the 6 weeks recently, realised ‘going it alone’ didn’t work, and needs that person in their corner, checking in on them and ensuring habits are on track. To give you a basic overview:

General Nutrition ‘support’ This is something we’re also working on, as we want to have something better than the (rather old now) level 2 ‘macro nutrition course’ we give every new member for free. We’ve got the basic framework of what we want to create and deliver on this for those that want to ‘get involved and take an interest in’ nutrition and healthy habits, but without any 1-1 coaching or accountability. Aiming for mid July on this for more news and a potential “launch”! ———————————————-- Summer Challenge We’ve not had a members-only challenge for a while - so it means we’re due one! Mid July, we’ll be launching a free online 14 day ‘Summer Shape up’ (cheesy name may change!) challenge to all members. This will be fitness-only, centered around short ‘at home’ 20min daily workouts we delver to you via the new iCoach app. And of course, a little prize and incentive or two, for those that get involved. Perfect opportunity to supplement your training in the studio, and burn a few more calories, and tone a few more muscles, in time for Summer hols :) ————————————- GYM PROGRAMS Boxing is going to be moved to fortnightly moving forwards. It’s always a case of people either LOVE boxing, or try to avoid it (based on LOTS of feedback!). As it IS a great format, but trickier to add variety, we’ve decided to spread out the gaps between boxing sessions to roughly two weeks at a time. Sisters of Steel We’ve a few spaces opened up on our small group strength training program. If you’ve wondered what’s involved with those ladies lifting those big bars and weights - or are keen but slightly nervous to try - then you need to jump on a free two week trial. You don’t need to be strong at all to start. But you WILL get much stronger, much quicker, doing this form of training. WANT TO APPLY? Email your CV and covering letter to Chris@innovatefitness.co.uk Ever struggled to lift your arms to brush your teeth the morning after a workout? Or had to shuffle down the stairs on your bum? We’ve all been there, and it is hard! Mild soreness is very much the norm but anything more and you could be experiencing: Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness OR ‘DOMS’ This refers to the gradual increase in soreness between 24 and 72 hours after your workout, it is completely normal!! It’s actually a good thing, it means that your muscle tissue has been stressed beyond what it is accustomed to… and this is how we make progress in the gym. So, you should be somewhat encouraged by the presence of DOMs – it means you are working the muscle!! (But I must stress that soreness is not necessary to see improvements either) No one is immune from DOMS, even pro athletes who train all day still get them. However, they can be quite alarming, particularly if you are just starting out with exercise or a new style of training you might think you have done yourself some damage. So how can I stop it? Long story short… don’t stop moving! Besides from the all-important cool-down after your workout, you can help to shift the soreness with: 1. Active recovery – swimming, walking, stationary bike 2. Stretching – I can recommend an app called ‘GoWod’ 3. Heat – hot baths!! Anything that will help to improve blood flow and circulation. As important as it is to exercise, ensuring you have proper recovery in place to help your body to heal is equally as important! Lastly, don’t be afraid to take a rest day… I can guarantee you won’t lose any training gains overnight. Instead, you will give your body that extra day needed to allow you to go again, and again… happy days!! Classes There were a whopping 482 classes delivered between 1 January - 31 March...of those 378 were large group and 104 Sisters of Steel... Attendances At those nearly 500 classes we had... 6,749 attendees - that's LOADS of fitties regularly rocking up to the gym to train and it makes us so happy! We've done a tally of attendances by client and it wasn't a huge surprise who came out on top:
Coaching The coaching team have been putting the time and effort in to delivering 28,920 minutes (!) of quality coaching and banter week in and week out. We know their knowledge and encouragement is appreciated by all the fitties - here are the coaches you are most sick of the sight of:

Assault bikes We just dropped £5grand on some brand new Assault Bikes More indepth overview of the benefits HERE in the fb group , but in a nutshell, they have long handles which you push and pull, whilst pedalling - this creates a full body workout unlike any other bike. They're also amazing for people with injuries as there's zero impact and full body! ______________________ PlyoBoxes Not as exciting as the bikes - but more investment in kit. And will add a tonne more variety to the programming - and gives plenty more options for toning them there legs and butt! The bikes and boxes will be ready to go in the next week! ______________________ Boxing Kate's busy creating some brand new formats for the boxing workouts - we know a lot of you love boxing (it's not everyone's cup of tea, but it IS popular, and such a great way or de-stressing and getting some much needed cardio into the body!) There'll be brand new formats rolled out as from next week every fortnight! ___________________ New Team Member Megan Thomas (her mum's a client ......hello Claire!...) will be joining us next Monday the 13th Feb as our brand spanking, shiny new Client Care Manager. She's also a Sports Therapist studying for a Masters at uni in Sports Therapy at the moment, so will be a useful contact on that front too :) ___________________ March Spring C.L.E.A.N Our favourite Members-only, FREE 14 day challenge will run next month. It's super simple, and a great way to 'declutter' anything in the way of your health, as well as your mind!! More news to follow! ___________________ We have plans for more up-levelling of the gym too - from new paint job, to more kit and even a cheeky re-fit....... Covid put paid to effort 1 in 2020. Last year was a whirlwind of chaos! But this year, both Pamela and I are keen to make this happen - IF things go well with the baby and work in general, I’m looking at end of May as possible date for numero uno! Watch this space……… We also want to eventually re-expand the SoS offering again. We took the positive decision last year to remove ‘concurrent’ sessions (LGPT and SoS at the same time) as it was putting too much pressure on getting coaching cover……. even though it p*ssed a few people off, we’re pleased we took the decision to ‘protect’ the team, and everyone has commented how much better their work-life balance is . Having said that, we do want to slowly and strategically grow the SoS offering, as we all believe that Strength Training is such an important training style, especially for a large part of our demographic. We also intend to overhaul the gym set up, when we sign a new lease on the facility (currently negotiating on horrendous rent increases!) including new paint job, a whole new layout (yup!!!) and a new significant investment in expanding our equipment range, and thus re-inventing much of the LGPT program offering as a consequence. Expect this around Summer time:-) (need to get this baby settled in first!) ___________________________ Nutrition Last but not least, did you tell you yourself you’ll sort out your nutrition after eating one too many mince pies? But the reality is that you’re nodding along to this whilst eating a delicious mince pie covered in delicious clotted cream?
